Aristotle defined Truth this way, “To say of what is that it is, and to say of what is not that it is not.”  This is a profoundly simple way to identify truth – or so it would seem.  But in our modern age, Truth has become, to put it mildly, difficult to pin down.  Truth, we are told, has changed its clothes for those of falsehood.  This 180-degree shift has occurred because our popular culture and collective national thought have fallen under the influence powers that have been purposely (and successfully) working to convince us that Truth is, “To say of what is that it is not, and to say of what is not that it is.”  This, of course, is a lie.

If you are looking for trustworthy ground on which to build a solid spiritual foundation, here it is:  Simple Truth cannot be found in most human institutions and Total Truth cannot be found in any of them.  But there is a place where both can be found.  That place is within the pages of the Bible.  Simple Truth in the Bible is God’s whole Truth, God’s real Truth, and God’s total Truth for humankind.  Why, then, do we call it Simple?  Because it is God’s prime instruction, hard-wired into each of us from the beginning.  Subconsciously, we all remember it, and we all long for it.  It’s just that, as we adapt to our world, a different programmer hacks into and overrides our system.  Simple Truth is crowded out, forgotten, shut down, dormant.  In the darkened command center of our hearts, Simple Truth still waits to be reactivated.  Do you want it up and running again?  Allow Jesus in!  He will purge you of bad programming and reignite your soul with the Simple Truth of His Gospel.
